A Short History of the Australian Golf Club Ski Lodge
The Australian Golf Club Ski Lodge was originally founded in 1963 when 75 members of the Australian Golf Club – hence its name – formed a co-operative to specifically encourage, develop and promote snow sports, ski touring and other athletic sports and games such as bush walking and mountain biking.
The Old lodge, ideally situated in the Perisher Snowfields, with close access to all facilities and ski runs, was built on the site not far from the new lodge today and was regarded as the best lodge in the snow fields with each of its ten bedrooms (accommodating two persons) having its own ensuite. Linen, blankets, and towels were provided and full time managers serviced the lodge to a standard far above those of other lodges of the time.
With the changes to the Perisher Snowfields the members of the Australian Golf Club Ski Lodge decided in 1997 to demolish the old lodge and rebuild a new two story modern building with updated facilities and offering the same unparalleled service to its members.
The lodge has accommodation on two levels, with common areas for relaxation or socialising.
Meals are served as a group in the true lodge tradition.
